Research

The Lobster Foundation of Massachusetts, a 501(c)(3) organization, supports a healthy and sustainable lobster fishery within Massachusetts’ waters. We sponsor scientific research and educational programs that promote sustainability and safe fishing practices, which in turn conserve and protect our marine environment and the abundant life it supports.

Through our longstanding relationship with the Massachusetts Lobstermen’s Association, we collaborate with stakeholders in the Massachusetts lobster industry including lobstermen, scientists, and business leaders. We are coordinating our efforts with organizations and institutions such as the MIT & Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution’s Sea Grant Programs; the Universities of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island; Massachusetts Department of Marine Fisheries; and other members of our community.

The Lobster Foundation of Massachusetts is focused on preserving the sustainability of our state’s most valuable commercial, single species, harvested marine resource within state waters, the American Lobster.
